Sailor Disney Series- Aurora as Michiru

So, I know Disney Princess as Whatever is getting super cliche, but I saw some Disney as Sailor Moon stuff getting passed around on Facebook that I didn't care for (art was pretty good, but the mash-up was a little weak for my tastes and didn't seem to get the Sailor Moon side of things), and was thus inspired to make these.

For all of this series, I'm attempting to use the personalities of the Disney characters to assign them to their corresponding Senshi, and then using their signature outfit (or in some cases, just a well known outfit if it works better) and the conventions of the Sailor Senshi uniforms.

Let's get super real here for a second- as much as I enjoy the Disney movies, the princesses, especially the G1 princesses are far less deep characters than most of the Sailor Senshi. Thus, as I've alluded to in previous entries, assigning Michiru was painfully difficult. Thus, I ended up punting a bit- I chose one of the princesses whose personality is less defined, so that I could project qualities onto her (no hate on Sleeping Beauty the movie though- if nothing else, the art direction on that movie holds up like whoa). Michiru is the Senshi I would most describe as sophisticated or refined or similar, and I could see that working for Aurora, despite her running around barefoot in the woods youth. At least in the anime (the version I know best), Michiru could also be surprisingly snarky. Aurora never gets much chance to do that, but what we do see of her, I could definitely see her having a snarky streak. Again, mostly projecting, but I did the best I could.

Also, once you see my upcoming Sailor Uranus (and, really, the princess I've assigned to her is probably hilariously obvious), I figured this would be a nice shout-out to a certain jilted shipping fandom.

As a note, the proportions probably look weird. This was at least partially purposeful- Aurora has weird, weird proprtions. She's a lot more angular than most Disney ladies (except for Megara) and has really, really slender ankles and wrists. Her hair was mad fun to draw though. I tried to make her version of Deep Submerge draw on those weird color spirals that happen during the sequences when the Fairies give Aurora their gifts. I couldn't do exactly that, but I wanted the influence to be there at least a little bit.
